The nav button at left shows how Blosxom would ordinarily render this page; the nav button shows the page with a little boost from some css and the cyclz plugin. For the heck of it, click the button to see how the page renders without css (i.e. for NN4 ;-).
The and nav buttons show a table-based "index" page getting a boost from cyclz.
Subsequent "entries" display the relevent css and flavours. (There's a note at the very bottom of this page, too ;-) Enjoy!

Here's the story.cycl flavour used to produce this page:
<div class="$cyclz::story_accent"> <h2 class="$cyclz::title_accent">$title</h2> <h3>$dato</h3> $cyclz::pnum_left$cyclz::counter</p> $body </div>
Here's the foot.cycl flavour used to produce this page:
<!-- /content--> </div> $cyclz::tpnum_left$cyclz::counter$cyclz::tpnum_right </body> </html>(See the note at page-bottom for more on counting posts.)

On the and pages, the running post count in each entry doesn't show up at all -- if cyclz isn't present or if you've removed your cycles file, there's no harm; no foul. Note that the running total of posts is delivered in $cyclz::counter. In story templates, $cyclz::counter delivers a running post count; in foot templates, it's total posts.

It works like this -- Decide on some variable names; list them on separate lines of a file named "cycles", followed by a dot, followed by the flavour name in which the variables will be used. For instance, a file for the "html" flavour would be named cycles.html.
Next, work the variables into your story flavour, as in this example; just place them wherever their values should appear.
Third, give some values to the variables in the cycles.html file.
You can use simple css class names ("blue", "red", etc.) to be defined in a style sheet as values, or whole "strings" of text, such as style="border:2px 2px #f66;", or...anything you like ;-)
In this example, two variables are used: story_accent and story-title_accent. Note that each variable has a different number of values, and that cyclz will run a separate "stepper" for each variable. Note as well that you can supply a single value in the cycles file to get meta-like performance out of cyclz.

Twas brillig and the slithey toves did gyre and gimble in the wabe; all mimsy were the borogroves, and the mome rath outgrabe. Beware the Jabberwock, my son! The jaws that bite, the claws that catch. Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun the frumious Bandersnatch! He took his vorpal sword in hand: long time the manxome foe he sought. So rested he by the Tumtum tree and stood awhile in thought.
